Serving Latino Food at Salem High School

Serving Latino Food at Salem High School
The Salem High School cafeteria should have a more diverse menu especially for latinos students. I asked classmates how they felt about the school food. One scholar, a junior at Salem high school said,“I’m not used to eating the food here. I would prefer to eat some rice, beans, and chicken.” This scholar move to the United and States in 2020. This is important because all the student need to feel like home and food is a big part of our culture. This means that latinos are the highest racial group in the Salem High School.
Therefore, the menu should include what they are used to eating. Panorama Survey Data from 2020 shows that only 30% of students felt like their culture was represented in school. This is important because all the student need to feel like home and food is a big part of our culture. Data shows that at Salem High school 47% of students are latino. This means that latinos are the highest racial group in the school therefore, the menu should include what they are used to eating I think for the call to action we can make a petition and get more latino workers in the cafeteria.
We don't want to see more garbage cans filled with uneaten food. We can't concentrate just on serving free and healthy food. It needs to taste good to the diversity of students that we have in Salem High school. I encourage you to sign this petition where you are supporting the teaching of the existing cafeteria staff and the recruitment of diversity of people to get FREE, HEALTHY, and CULTURE FOOD.
