Gender Equality at National Institute of Technology Calicut

It is a myth that National Institute of Technology Calicut is in India. India has the law of gender equality but here only first year GIRLS are not allowed to attend the function of Ganesh Chaturthi. Our religious sentiments are really hurt due to this.
First year boys are allowed then why not girls? Our parents allow us to stay away from the homes. We can go home alone. We go alone on railway stations and bus stations. Then why are we not allowed to attend Ganesh Chaturthi function in the campus?
Does it mean that NITC is not safe enough for girls?
If it is so then let the Indians know how NIT-C is hell for first year girls!
The worst part of this is that the notice not allowing first year GIRLS was with watchman and the notice allowing every first year student to go was on the Notice board. So if watchman was aware that first year GIRLS are are not allowed then why did he allow us to go?
Only first year GIRLS were asked to leave the event among the whole crowd. We are highly humiliated due to this.
The issue here is about the sentiments of all the people who actually thought they could celebrate their festival even if they are away from home.
We have so many upcoming events and we don't want this to happen again.
