My name is John Cerini. I am a parent of four children. Many parents like myself need to know that council district 13 of the Bronx has a pediatric trauma center. Our Council District includes Throggs Neck, Pelham Bay, Westchester Square, Morris Park, Pelham Parkway, Allerton Ave and City Island. Unfortunately there may be times in all our lives that our children will need emergency services. In the past I have had the traumatic experience of having to rush my children to Jacobi Hospital and was so grateful we had this center close by. Unfortunately the threat of removing our pediatric trauma center at Jacobi is real and upon us. There may be other pediatric emergency services available in other sections of the Bronx, but time is not an luxury when minutes can mean the loss of lives.
Senior Management in New York City Health & Hospitals, the country's largest public health care system, are planning to remove the only pediatric trauma center in the Bronx which is locate at Jacobi Medical Center
Unless they are stopped, just after the first of the year, the New York State Department of Health will be removing our only Bronx Pediatric Trauma Center from Jacobi Medical Center. Our voices must be heard. Together we are stronger.
We cannot allow this to ..happen. Our community and borough need this service for our children. There are over 350,000 children under the age of 18 in our borough of the Bronx. Please join me in fighting for our children's safety and keeping the Jacobi Pediatric Trauma Center open. Please sign this petition and share it as well.
