Don't "Deadname" Trans* students at North Central High School Commencement

Alan Belmont is senior at North Central High in Indianapolis, Indiana. As a trans* student, he has been told that he cannot receive his diploma with his preferred name at commencement.
School policy requires all students to be called up by their legal names – as they appear on their birth certificates – regardless of gender identity.
He is not alone. There are other trans* students who are also at-risk of being "Deadnamed" simply because they want to join their fellow graduates and walk across the stage to receive their diplomas.
It's time to change the district policy and respect these students' right to be receive their diplomas with their preferred names.
Please sign this petition to show support for Alan and the other transgender students. Help us urge Superintendent Woodson to stop "Deadnaming" trans* students at commencement ceremonies.
