Kennedy Robert Scott started this petition to Dr. Michael Wiltshire and

This school year has been really confusing and after all that work students and teachers need a break! Could you imagine working hard for 10 months, while looking forward to a well-deserved 2-month break [which, by the way, is a 1:5 ratio], just to be told that you must continue working for an additional month! Cleveland Clinic states, "Research has found that taking breaks can improve your mood, boost your performance and increase your ability to concentrate and pay attention. When you don't give your mind a chance to pause and refresh, it doesn't work as efficiently" So if we are hopeful for an efficient school year for 2021-22, we should only have summer classes once to twice a week. In addition, the classes should be online, so that students and teachers that travel will still be able to participate.

I understand that summer school would be a good opportunity for students to meet their future teachers, future classmates, and have an idea of what is to come in the next school semester. But is it necessary for there to be full classes, 5 days a week, and in person? By signing this petition, you will help hundreds of students enrolled in my middle school not only get the break we need but know that we have some sort of say in our education experience.
