School Board Chair Resignation Demanded for Chesterfield County Public Schools
Why this petition matters

We, the residents of Chesterfield County, demand the immediate resignation or removal via a Chesterfield County School Board vote, of Robert Thompson, Chair of the Chesterfield County School Board.
Chesterfield County School Board dynamics have created, and continue to create, tension in public meetings, as a result of the same School Board member(s) chronically causing unrest (also inclusive of Javaid Siddiqi, SB Vice Chair) and we, the residents of Chesterfield County, demand that Robert Thompson, SB Chair, be immediately removed from duty in order regain some form of order until his term ends in December, 2019. The long term benefits for the Chesterfield County residents far outweigh any unsettling feelings.
Toxic Chesterfield County Public School Board member(s), such as Rob Thompson, SB Chair, and Javaid Siddiqi, SB Vice Chair, have destroyed our Chesterfield County School Board and it has taken the entire CCPS organization with it, along with the public trust, which involves the broader spectrum of parents, teachers, students, administration, general staff, etc. We would like to see the current Chesterfield County Board of Supervisors take control of managing the Chesterfield County Public School budget, at least until December 31, 2019, when the current School Board member's terms end.
Ethical behavior means acting in ways that are consistent with what communities generally accept as good values - the residents of Chesterfield County have not witnessed this for quite some time from the Chesterfield County School Board. Values such as honesty, dignity, diversity, fairness and respect for individual rights have not been demonstrated to the citizens of Chesterfield County. Integrity drives ethical behavior and it is the most important influence on ethical behavior at every level.
The values within the Chesterfield County Public School culture have great influence on the relationships between the parents, students, teachers, general staff, etc. - this relationship has been damaged with the community by the Chesterfield County School Board in the lack of transparency in the allocation of funding for the Chesterfield County Public School system, which is now ranked among the LOWEST in the nation for school maintenance regarding our cooling towers. Teachers, support staff, parents, and especially children, should never have been subjected to such unhealthy and potentially deadly conditions, which the Legionella bacteria creates. Confirmed cases of Legionnaire's disease have been reported and there has most likely been cases of Pontiac Fever due to the Legionella bacteria, which presented itself in flu-like symptoms, but went either misdiagnosed or un-diagnosed. Chesterfield County Public Schools has students with compromised immune systems in the schools who are at an even greater risk for developing health issues related to the Legionella bacteria.
Robert Thompson, SB Chair, Javaid Siddiqi, SB Vice Chair, and Nita Mensia-Joseph, COO of Chesterfield County Schools have failed to be honest, fair and respectful towards teachers, support staff, parents and students that they interact with inside of the Chesterfield County Public School system. When ethical behavior is genuine, it sparks ethical behavior in employees, just as parents and grandparents inspire moral values in their children and grandchildren. Ethical behavior is good for Chesterfield County Public School administration, just as it is good for families.
Rob Thompson, Chesterfield County School Board Chair, has failed miserably in his position and the parents, teachers, students of Chesterfield County demand Mr. Thompson's immediate resignation and/or removal.
