More and more reasons are occurring to believe that the staff of Jefferson County Schools, is sexualizing young women and school girls. The dress code which is made to be directed toward the entirety of the student body, is only being carried out when it comes to the girls. I am a male presenting person, and there have been dozens and dozens of times that I have worn shorts that were not allowed (according to dress code).

Over the couple years I’ve been going to Noe Middle School in person, I have never been dress coded once. Staff at Noe Middle School, and other public schools all over the Jefferson county school district, are teaching young women to be modest and cover up for men.

The problem is that, men aren’t being told to be modest and to cover up for women either. Instead of telling young women that it is not their fault, and that they are not responsible for mens feelings, they correct women like they had done something wrong, and are in the same way, sexualizing young women by dress-coding only them and not young men. Staff at Noe Middle, and all over America, should be equipped to teach young men to respect women, and to not see them as an object and talk about them only sexually.

However, they are not. This petition is to bring awareness to the deeply rooted sexualization of young women in Jefferson County Schools, and to change and educate the way young men see young women.

We would like to change the dress code in general, however we are only a few middle schoolers. Hopefully other people will see this and join the cause, creating their own petitions and speaking up about it.
