Jersey City Board of Education is planning to eliminate middle school sports  for the 2018-2019 school year.  Rumors are surfacing that they may even hand it over to the incompetent and unorganized city recreation program. Sports plays a major role in character development and also serves as a motivation for students to achieve academic excellence! Students who participate in sports have lower incidence of drug, tobacco and alcohol use.Studies have shown that high school athletes have higher grades than non-athletes, lower absentee levels, a significantly smaller percentage of discipline referrals, lower percentages of dropouts, and higher graduation rates. Parents are not being told the facts. Our children deserve  a competent and consistent sports program.Tell Dr. Lyles and all the board members to Say YES to Middle SCHOOL and NO to putting the children of this district last!!!!
