There has been a recent outbreak of the COVID-19 Novel Coronavirus, which is extremely infectious and severe. WHO has already declared it as a pandemic, and has advised people to avoid any form of social gatherings to stop the spread of the virus. Keeping all this in mind, conducting classes as well as exams with hundreds of students sitting together will only worsen the situation. Also, some students travel from faraway locations in public transport, which highly increases the risk of infection. The Maharashtra government has issued a notice under the School Education ministry that stated schools and colleges shall be shut, and only HSC (12th), Mumbai University and SSC (10th) examinations shall be continued as per schedule. Therefore, there is no need for FYJC students to risk their health while travelling by public transport.

There has been a steady increase in the number of Coronavirus cases in Mumbai, and conducting exams and classes in such a situation will only add to them. Though we understand that the academic performance of the college is also important, prevention is always better than cure.

Postponing the exams will prevent the spread of virus among the college students. It will also help in slowing its spread to other parts of the city as well, as the college has students who come from varied locations across the city.

Thousands of FYJC students and parents of CHM college are concerned, and hope this will be addressed.
