D’Youville College Petition:

COVID-19 has tragically complicated the lives of so many globally. While it is not under our control that college students are not able to receive the education and living environments that we are paying for, it is under the control of both the D’Youville College Administration and Presidency to be able to compensate for their students' financial burdens. Therefore, if you are a student and or resident at D’Youville College please help to bring this matter to the attention of D'Youville President, Dr. Lorrie Clemo.

While the dorms and apartments are still open, we have been advised by both D’Youville faculty along with the President of the United States to stay home when possible in order to prevent the spread of this virus. The following was sent in an email by a D’Youville faculty member, “ I would encourage you all to embrace social distance guidelines and remain OFF CAMPUS for the time being.” Being so, it appears that a large majority of students have obeyed by avoiding being on campus. The money that we are paying for our education is also supposed to go towards other on campus resources. Spartan bucks, dining hall meal swipes, and parking passes, are all resources that we have and continue to pay for while not being able to take advantage of.

As students we pay a lot of money for our education. In light of the pandemic of the COVID-19 virus we are having to transition to online coursework. In paying our tuition we pay to be taught in a classroom setting. There is no timeline for this pandemic and how long our coursework could be online instead of back in the classroom.  Whether it is a refund, credit, or discount, we as students deserve some type of compensation during these hard times. We deserve to be heard regarding these concerns! I ask that everyone would please sign this petition and get us the money we deserve.
