Improve Food Quality at the University of the Cumberlands
Since the University of the Cumberlands has changed from Chartwells Higher Education Dining Services to Pioneer College Caterers, the food quality provided in the school's cafeteria has dropped significantly. For those students with Type-1 and Type-2 Diabetes and other metabolic and endocrine-related diseases, the food provided by the University of the Cumberlands via Pioneer College Caterers is near inedible. It is equally inconsiderate to the health of any other student on campus.
Fresh vegetables are nearly non-existent, barring the Tossed Salad-Bar at the Campus Center. Pizza, fries, nuggets, and pasta are peddled as the main-line foods by Pioneer College Caterers, and vegetables that are present are nearly always overcooked and cold. Simply put, the health of the students on campus are disregarded, and utterly mismanaged. Countless times, I and other students have wasted one of our "meal-swipes" at the T.J. Roberts Dining Hall, only to find that the food provided by Pioneer is outright disgusting and revolting. For reference, each student meal swipe is valued at $7.25. The quality provided for us, is worse than your cheapest fast-food restaurants.
It has been made known to the school administration by a multitude of students prior, that the food quality has grossly diminished. It is known to the Faculty and Staff of the University of the Cumberlands that the current situation is pathetic at best, considering that students of U.C. pay $4,250 per semester for Room and Board.
Since the University has not sought to take action of their own accord, it is up to the Student Body and affiliated Parents and Donors to make this problem known to the University.
