Justice for NJCU Music, Dance and Theater Faculty

As many of you are aware, the Music, Dance, and Theatre department has undergone extreme budget cuts in efforts to save costs at the university. In particular, this has affected the adjunct faculty who teach one-on-one lessons; the university has sliced their pay in half. The cuts also affect department heads who now cannot teach as many students as they've traditionally done in the past.
It has long been the case that many students attend NJCU for the sole purpose of studying privately with these Grammy-winning, Tony-nominated, and world-renowned musicians. With these pay cuts, these distinguished artists will be making less per lesson than their own students who teach privately would. (<$60/hr).
On top of this, the faculty were informed about this pay cut over the past week, about two and a half weeks before the upcoming semester starts. As a result of this short notice, many of them have already resigned due to the humiliating pay cut and now are suddenly without work for the year.
We are demanding that Dr. Sedycias reinstate the rate of pay that these world class musicians and educators deserve, and have been receiving.
A protest will be held this Thursday, August 24th, at noon in front of Karnoutsos Hall as we speak out against this harsh and sudden fiscal decision that has greatly affected our beloved adjunct faculty mentors and professors. We hope that you can lend your support at the protest, but if not, let your voice be heard by signing this petition.
Thank you all for your support!
