My grand children atttend DPS schools and the schools are in shambles. They need a strong person with their heart & head in the right place .... and that is Ms Meriweather. Hasn't she earned a chance?

Alycia Meriweather is the very definition of determination and strength. Her Love for not only Detroit, but its kids is beyond what anyone can imagine. She needs to be considered, set aside requirements and look at someone who has the capacity to bring restoration to DPS!

I think Alycia Meriweather is the best person to be Superintendent of Detroit Public Schools.

Ms. Meriweather has shown an incredible dedication to the students, families and community of Detroit her whole life. Every decision she makes is based on what's best for Detroit schoolchildren. I cannot express how important this is, and far outweighs any inexperience any thinks she doesn't have.

I worked with Alycia while she taught science and I studied at UM... She is, and has shown as interim that she is, the most qualified applicant and should become the next DPSCD Superintendent

In the years I have been a part of the district, I have never seen nor experienced such unilateral support for the leader of our district. This can not be business as usual or following procedure nor can it be about simply erasing everything the emergency managers did. This is HAS to be about what is working for our district. Alycia Meriweather is and always has been working for the district and its children. She should have the chance to interview, demonstrate her qualifications (which she is doing every day she remains in the chair) and have a real chance at leading from a secure and supportive position.

Don't make the foolish assumption that another district's hiring makes their choice a good decision.
No more starting over. You have someone in front of you that brings people together and leads.

I think Alicia should be considered for the job. She has done an excellent job as Intern Superintendent. Her main focus is the DPS children.
