Our petition is 1 Lakh + signatures strong!
Jun 23, 2020 —
I hope each and every one of you is safe and healthy in these unprecedented times of the corona pandemic. But in these gloomy times, I have news that would get your hopes up. I am so delighted to share that the number of signatures on our petition has reached a whopping 1,43,686, as of today!
This has been possible with the support that I have received from each one of you. And for that, I’d like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to every supporter of our petition. It’s the supporters of the petition from which the petition wields its power. But, the signatures need to go up because more the number of signatures, the closer we are to getting the demands of the petition getting fulfilled.
This support becomes all the more important as ASHA workers are risking their lives with the increase in caseload and that has led to some of them being tested positive, while on work. Apart from being underpaid and overburdened, they are now being exposed to sufferings of the deadly virus as well. But still, the government has been reluctant in providing any respite to our ASHA workers.
There has been no official declaration of plans/schemes to increase the incentives for our ASHA workers, yet! And so, I’d request you all to spread the word, bring this into discussion or just share this petition with your family and friends(https://www.change.org/ashakiasha This is the least that we as citizens, who are safe in the comforts of our home can do. I am positive that the increase in supporters would bring this issue, which is so vital, into the narrative and would compel the government to ensure that timely disbursement of incentives and provisioning of protective gear takes place.
And with this optimism, I’d like to end this update with a bit of friendly advice. And that is to take care of yourself. Not only of your physical self but your mental self as well. Your mental well-being post lockdown is equally important. Also, reach out to people close to you. Be happy and kind to those around you. And don’t forget to spread happiness. Because happiness like corona is contagious!
Sending good vibes,
Keep fighting for people power!
