I believe in education exposing children to many voices and ideas without being censored by self appointed judges.

I'm signing because real world knowledge should not be banned simply because it's disturbing to some.

The world is full of differences and it isn't right that a few conservative parents should be able to force their narrow views onto other people's children. They should have the option for their children to read another mandatory book. However that only perpetuates continued prejudice and does their children a disservice. They will not be prepared for the real world.

I strongly believe that young adults should discuss these important life issues under the guidance and moderation of a professional English teacher, in the safe environment of the classroom and the company of and discussion with peer young adults.

My parents and grandparents worked hard to encourage learning and freedom, not ignorance and paranoia- remember McCarthy, Hitler, Nurse Ratchet, and Elmer Gantry? How about ISIS and the homegrown Tea Party? Get over yourselves, not over us!

I find it embarrassing that my alma mater would allow the special interests of a few parents to cause book banning to happen. Please reinstate the banned books.
