Support re-establishing the Cedar Heights and Kentlake Choir program

Cedar Heights Middle school has been without a choir program for three years and is starting the 4th as of the 2017-2018 school year.  Kentlake is the feeder high school and has cancelled next year due to low enrollment.  Vocal instruction needs to remain in the schools for many reasons.

We present the evidence that by all conventional standards, they have the numbers to sustain the current class offerings. We believe that it is not okay to take music away from our kids without a fair and transparent process. We ask you, the Kent School District, how can we claim to "successfully prepare all students for their futures" if we do not offer the same equitable access to music education that other schools offer? We are here to say that our music classes are important to the parents, our children, and the future of our community.

We, the undersigned, are concerned citizens who urge our leaders to act now to reinstate the Choir classes for the 2017-2018 year.
