Northside ISD's dress code is sexist. I will include some quotes right below this from the NISD district wide handbook.

"GIRLS chiffon blouses must be worn with a tank top underneath that measures three fingers or more in width"

"Sleeveless shirts must me three fingers or more in width if worn by a FEMALE student"

" GIRLS tops with exposed midriffs, backs, tank tops, halter tops, spaghetti straps, strapless, tube tops, or any see through type are not allowed"

" Any clothes that are suggestive, indecent, or cause a distraction are not permitted"

Now there is something wrong with this dress code as you can clearly see above. It is just directed towards females, which is unfair. This dress code is suggesting that what girls wear is distracting and suggestive. How can a 14-18 year old girls body be a distraction and suggestive. If a young girls body is a "distraction" to you then she is not the problem, the problem is you sexualizing a young girl for her choice of clothes. If anything this dress code just normalizes rape culture. This dress code is teaching girls that they need to cover up because they are being "distracting" to the boys and that their God given body is something that makes others uncomfortable. We need to change this. Now I get change does not happen overnight but this is no where near acceptable and something needs to be done about this.
