I don't see the benefits of this initiative for young children. Most children have too much screen time already. The early grades of school should be for face to face interaction and learning, writing, coloring, reading books, and learning through play and hands on activities. Indoor recess should be for playing games and interacting with friends not with a screen. I also have serious concerns about making such young children responsible for such expensive devices and placing such a financial burden on parents. Finally, I worry about asking already overworked teachers to deal with monitoring these devices, troubleshooting all of the inevitable technical problems, and feeling pressure to incorporate the devices into their classrooms when other teaching methods would work just as well (if not better). Please reconsider this initiative for young children.
