B.C. Needs A Shelter in Place Order

The province of British Columbia needs to immediately take action to prevent tens of thousands of deaths.  That action is a Shelter in Place Order that mandates the closure of all non-essential businesses.  As well, public parks and beaches must enforce social distancing or shutdown altogether given the number of people gathering closely in these areas.  Finally, the numbers of visitors in hospitals should be limited.

The data is clear that, at this time, only drastic action will significantly reduce the number of people who will die, given the trajectory of the spread of the disease and the limited capacity of the health care system.  Our leaders have a social responsibility to protect citizens through courageous action.  There is no time to lose.
