Trump Administration wants to end protections that prevented federally funded homeless shelters from discriminating against transgender people. They are slowly stripping transgender people of their rights, and it is absolutely terrifying.

"The new rule allows shelter providers that lawfully operate as single-sex or sex-segregated facilities to voluntarily establish a policy that will govern admissions determinations for situations when an individual's gender identity does not match their biological sex."

The department said in the statement that the new change would "better ACCOMMODATE RELIGIOUS BELIEFS of shelter providers" as well as other practical concerns. THEY ARE PRIORITIZING RELIGIOUS BELIEFS OVER BASIC HUMAN RIGHTS.

"After the department formally introduces the new rule, a two-month comment period will commence in which the public can speak out for or against the proposed change." Heart-wrenching that the rule will likely be passed and voices will only be listened to then, nevertheless, SPEAK UP NOW.
