पढ़ाई ऑनलाइन हो सकती है तो परीक्षा क्यों नहीं?

I, on behalf of all the students under BINOD BIHARI MAHTO KOYALANCHAL UNIVERSITY, am deeply concerned about the decision of conducting UG final year exams offline. I urge all concerned authorities to look into the rising pandemic where an alarming rate of COVID positive cases are coming up everyday in the state of Jharkhand, which makes it understandable that conducting exams offline will only lead to a larger risk to lives of the students and their families. The worse scenario rose when on September 4th 2020, 11staffs were found COVID 19 POSITIVE. The DSW of BBMKU Dr. L.B. Singh was also found positive of COVID 19. Shortly after this terrifying incident, a circular was passed that offline exams could be held anytime soon with 10days' notice.

I request the authority to conduct the examinations ONLINE as soon as possible and take the following points into consideration-

  1. If exams are held offline, students will gather at the examination centre which will totally disrupt the guidelines of lockdown and social distancing.
  2. Students who are living out of state have NO TRANSPORTATION FACILITIES and their risk multiplies because of the need to travel to and fro the examination centre since their hostels are also not safe. Moreover, interstate movement is not possible due to the pandemic.
  3. Students are missing out on a lot of JOB OPPORTUNITIES because of the NON- GRADUATE TAG. We are not able to apply in many jobs because they hire graduates only. Nor are we able to fill up forms for government jobs. We, despite of being ready to give our exams, are not able to get those jobs because the situation is apparently dangerous to conduct offline exams.

Viewing the aspect of this pandemic situation, university and students should come to a mutual understanding that we, the students are NOT against exams. We are against risking our lives for the exams. I request the authority to take our exams ONLINE as soon as possible (following the guidelines given by the UGC to conduct exams ONLINE, OFFLINE or MIXED).

The longer we wait, the more opportunities we miss.
