Dear students attending Downingtown West HS,

We have acknowledged that many of the security guards have been and continue to violate students privacy, and this conundrum needs to be stopped, mainly focusing on the female guard,. Many of the guards are known to target specific students, which makes the student body immensely uncomfortable. Although schools do need one or more types of security to prevent any shootings, weather incidents, intruders, etc. but the guards have been overstepping their boundaries. Many individuals that attend the high school have spoke up about the unnecessary trouble the guards are putting them through, whether it’s following them around the halls trying to attend their next class, watching them enter/exit restrooms, constantly asking where we are supposed to be when we either have a pass in hand, clearly walked out of the classroom for a bathroom break, etc. This issue needs to be taken seriously, the guards have to learn to withdraw, boundaries, and exponential growth to enable the student community to get their work done as they should’ve been.
