Provide nursing service to students

The DASD has provided nursing services to Bishop Shanahan in the past. Last year they lowered their staffing from 4 days to 3.  Starting in Fall 2018, they have given notice that they will no longer provide nursing services beyond state-mandated examinations and record-keeping.  All students deserve a school nurse.  As a parochial school that relies on tuition dollars, and parents who pay school taxes on top of that, it is an injustice to deny this service to Shanahan.  Just like bus service is provided, offering nurse services, funded by our tax dollars, should also be something that is provided by surrounding public school districts, or at a minimum by the school district that Shanahan resides in. As a PA taxpayer and a parent of two students that attend that school, we make sacrifices to support this choice of education for our children.  This choice removes burden from public budgets and part of that should be used to properly fund nursing services.
