Hackney Council say "we ARE (!!) [ IMPROVING ] Downham Road" and want our feedback on plans they have to - as far as I have read in local newspapers - turn Downham Road into a School Street.

This would forbid car traffic and only permit bicycles and pedestrians during key times (most likely 8.30am - 9.15am; 3.15 - 4pm) 

Local residents needing to make car journeys already have severely limited access routes; Downham Road being one key remaining route running East / West. Closing it to traffic, even for limited times, would cause absolute chaos on Southgate Road, New North Road, Balls Pond Road - all of which are already nightmare routes at peak times due to the existing LTNs.

The "consultation" will occur on Wednesday 16 and 23 November 2022 from 3-7pm at the Rose Lipman Centre Hall. 

Few will be able to attend then. Sign below if you wish to strenuously reject these plans and want Downham Road to remain open to traffic both directions at all times.
