Friends of Downey Tennis and local Residents the actions of the Measure S committee have been to exclude the Downey tennis Community from the decision to remove the first tennis court at Furman Park and in its place put a basketball court.  This is irresponsible and short sighted.  They have failed in assessing the need for tennis court and the repercussions for such action and in notifying the area residents and the tennis community of such action and the immediate area residents.  Furthermore this action will further limit the children of this community access to free and quality tennis courts.  Our children will have a more difficult time finding places to play.
