The Tories at Dover District Council watered down Labour Councillors' motion on Climate Emergency until it was completely meaningless. They must be brought to task.

Labour Councillors will continue to fight for real action on Climate Change not wishy washy meetings which kick the can down the road. The Tories are all talk, no action, and they have proved that.

Labour Councillor Joe Burman proposed

• To make the district carbon neutral by 2030
• A programme of sustainable energy generation aiming towards supplying 30% of the districts electricity supply 
• Introduce policy requirements that new buildings should meet the most rigorous possible energy efficiency standards 
• Appoint a member level 'climate change champion' to oversee commitments and monitor progress 

ALL REJECTED BY THE TORIES ON DDC

In addition they have watered down carbon proposals, species diversity and extinction proposals and single use plastic proposals brought about by Labour.

Labour led Town Councils in Deal and Dover have successfully declared a climate emergency and committed to Climate action, but the Tory led District council refuses too!  

Please sign this petition to indicate that you as a resident of Dover and Deal are in favour of the original Labour proposal and want DDC to take the appropriate action on climate change before its too late!
