We are reaching out to you in absolute desperation; to reconsider the Personal Care Sector of Lockdown, Hair Salons specifically.

We live in Guelph, Ontario and currently own two, usually, booming salons in the downtown core. This Pandemic has been a hard hit to our industry, with three full months of revenue lost and a staff of over 30 people with no employment.

We have persevered and worked tirelessly to outfit our businesses with all required PPE and have been operating safely since June 12th, 2020 with no Covid cases and a healthy staff and clientele.

This does not come without hard work and a serious investment. We have invested in partitions between stations, removed stations for a six-foot allowance, partitions between wash basins, plexi-glass barriers at all tills, manicure stations and pedicure stations. We have invested in many types of disinfectant, sanitizer, and the best in sanitization for our tools and our space. All guests and staff must be wearing masks at all times. We have spared no expense in order to maintain the safety of our staff and guests.

We screen our guests prior to their appointment as a thorough waiver must be signed and received. The guests are asked more screening questions upon arrival and their temperature is taken. They must sanitize upon arrival and exit.

We take our cleaning and disinfecting between guests very seriously. Every step is meticulous and we are very proud of our perseverance at this difficult time.

We need to be open. Our businesses cannot continue to suffer like this, especially considering that many other avenues of business are allowed to be operating with much less rules and regulations than we operate with on a daily basis. We can no longer let our staff suffer with no income to live and to sustain themselves and their families.

We provide a very essential service to our guests and justly believe that our line of work is an integral piece of many individuals well-being and self-care.
