With only three weeks left of the school year, returning to in-person learning is an unsafe and very unnecessary risk. Due to the limited time and the potential uprise in covid cases, there truly is no reason to return for these last few weeks. Not only are there many students who have loved ones at home who are still at risk of severe health problems due to covid, but forcing students to choose between academic success and the safety of their loved ones is not a fair ask. Not only is the physical health at risk but so is the student's mental health. After learning online for the entirety of this past quad-master students have developed a rhythm and new learning habits tailored for virtual learning. Going back to school will create an abrupt change that will create anxiety and many other stress-related mental health problems. On behalf of the students, we feel as though going back for these last few weeks will have a detrimental impact on our mental stability and academics. Going back for these last few weeks realistically has no reward for the students, only risks and potential problems that can seriously impact the lives of the students. This is a risk for not only the health and safety of the students but the teachers, staff, and families that will be put at risk because of this decision.
