Protect Indigenous Land
Land and Water Pollution
Canadian gas companies want to install a 670-kilometer pipeline that will run
through the Wet’suwet’en lands. Having this pipeline run through their lands would
create a significant loss in biodiversity and pollute their drinking waters.
The Injustice
For eleven years hereditary chiefs have been fighting to save the land and water threatened by several pipeline projects.
Now, First Nations bodies are not only on the line but those who survive are being criminalized.
Indigenous water and land protectors were arrested while peacefully protesting against threats to their natural habitat. Three Indigenous journalists were arrested among the thirty. By arresting these writers, the Indigenous are losing one of their main sources of a voice.
For years, Indigenous land defenders have pursued to protect their lands and sacred waters from the construction of a pipeline. Help to make this a reality!
