In the most recent Ontario lockdown restrictions, dog trainers (with the exception of those who work with service dogs) are not considered an essential service.

There are many dogs who are struggling with aggression that need immediate help from professionals, otherwise their behaviour will escalate, and it's only a matter of time before they injure someone.

Online training is often not a safe option for these dogs, as their owners are not skilled to safely work with them without the potential of getting bitten. It is the trainers job to coach these families to learn how to handle their dog in the safest way possible. Without a professional trainer physically present during training, the likelihood of someone getting bitten is exponentially higher.

With hospitals already overwhelmed with COVID patients, it should be seen as essential to reduce the number of injuries caused by dogs.

This petition is requesting that training specifically dealing with dog aggression be deemed an essential service as the health and safety of people are immediately at risk if these dogs to not get help.
