Why this petition matters

The New Plastic Ontario License Plates are not necessary or much more benificial and frankly, look cheap. The New design is smaller and made of plastic, and is asvertised to withstand our harsh Ontario climates. How is this a reason to spend even more money on an idea that is not needed. License Plates are currently designed to fit on our Vehicles and in License Plate Frames. Making them smaller will leave an eye sore of extra space where the Plates mount onto your vehicle. Smaller designs and cheaper material should mean cheaper costs for Ontario Residents but a set of these new plates will cost the same as our beloved white metal metarial plates with blue lettering sitting at $59.00 a set. While registered plate holders are not required to update their current plates what about new drivers who like the current look? So with this new change many other aspects will have to change along with it which will cost even more money, especially for the businesses that specialize in Custom License Plate Frames and Mounting Kits who will now need to change their designs to fit the smaller new designed plates. I feel our current plates are more durable yes they can bend but they can be somewhat bent back into shape usually not needing to pay for replacements. These New Plastic Plates are a different story someone bumps into your car the wrong way even lightly well now not only so you run the risk of repairs on your vehicle you now have to pay for plates to be replaced due to getting cracked or snapped in half. It very well may be more cost efficient but for who? Yes some do like the new design but asked around and community wise more like the current plates over new design. The Doug Ford Government made this unnecessary costly change for no probable reason at all. Their idea of change may not be that of our residents ideas of change and with all changes should be talked about as a whole with Ontario residents and government. We have a right to be included in changes no matter how big or small!
