I would like to break down why the price of rent in the GTA should be considered a crisis:
The Average rent for a 3 bedroom (UPPER LEVEL) house is 2500-3000 a month
Utilities: 100-200
Insurance: 200-500
Car payment: 200-500
Phone, internet, etc: 150-300
Groceries: 200-400 (since prices have gone up even though grocery stores have double.in profits this year)

Adding up the lower side of ONLY the necessities we are at 3350$ a month. On the higher side 4700$ ( more realistic total)

2 adults making 20$ and hour will pull in 4928$ after taxes. 2 adults making minimum wage will pull in 3512$

With respectable pay, the average couple will have 402$ a month after covering the NECESSITIES not factoring in gas, diapers clothes etc. Child care averages out to 500-1000$ a month

At minimum wage you will be in debt after covering your necessaties.

If the cost of rent continues this way you will have an entire generation of young families who will drive further in debt just to keep a roof.ovet their heads. Who will leave no assets to the children they work so hard to support, and can barely afford a pack of chicken (19$)

2 working adults making more then minimum wage should not.be living in debt after covering basic necessities.

WE NEED A REALISTIC COST OF LIVING. I CAN'T BE THE ONLY ONE THINKING THIS!
