Reconsider the stopping of Wilts and Dorset bus services between Wimborne, Bournemouth and surrounding areas

This petition made change with 785 supporters!

Wilts and Dorset buses provide a critical link between Bournemouth and Wimborne and surrounding areas. Stopping these services will effect Commuters, the Elderly, School children, students and many more. It will increase the use of cars on already congested roads, reduce the income to local businesses in Wimborne and Ferndown reduce the ability for people to keep doctor and dentist appointments.

If the council needs to save money they should consider reducing the service to one bus an hour for the duration of the entire day thus providing an adequate service from 0600 – 2300 hrs. Please sign our petition so we can approach the council at their next meeting in early February.

Paper Petitions can be found in the following locations:

Press release

Save Wimborne and Colehill Bus Services and sign the petition

As your readers may be aware Dorset County Council have taken the decision to stop the subsidy payment for various bus services in the Wimborne and Colehill areas. The number 13 bus will stop with the last bus out of Bournemouth at 1730 and the last bus from Wimborne will be the 1710. This is coupled with the stopping of the number 89 service. Apparently a full consultation has taken place and the decision made by the council is final. The stopping of these services will have the potential to increase traffic on our already congested roads as people revert to their cars to commute home from work, parents will need to pick up students from school, university and collages. Residents will find themselves unable to make late doctor and dentist appointments, taking in a show in at the pavilion in Bournemouth or the Tivoli in Wimborne and Ferndown Barrington will be a thing of the past unless you have a car or willing to pay for a taxi. Local businesses will lose money as people who use the bus to visit restaurants and pubs will no longer go!!! however there is hope.....having contacted our local MP I have been advised that if we all get together and sign a petition we could get our voice heard at the next council meeting so please either sign the petition on line at this address  then pass it on to as many people as you can or visit local businesses and Colehill library the link above will be updated with information on how the campaign is going along with updated information on where petitions can be signed in person. This is a chance for democracy to work and save our bus service.
