I am a single mom of 3 kids. I door dash for a living with them every single day just to TRY to make ends meet. I choose to door dash because its hard to get or keep a baby sitter. Or even afford one. The 2.25$ base pay is completely ridiculous. About 80% of the orders I get are under 7 miles and 90% of people don’t tip but a dollar or two. And with gas being almost 4$ a gallon that’s not even worth being out. So then I end up driving all over town a few times trying find a decent order and waste more gas then what I am making. I’m trying to petition that our base pay be set at at lest a minimum of 5$. So those people who tip 1-2$ will get there food because that’s a higher total for the drivers. I think it’s completely un fair that when you order door dash your paying more than the restaurants price for a item, and you have a bunch of other fees also, that make a 10$ order like 15$ or more. And that’s why a lot of people don’t tip good either in my opinion. There needs to be a change. Door dash is a great idea to keep less people out during this pandemic. But it needs to be made worth it for the people who are out here risking their selfs for everyone else. So please sign this and share all over the world.
