Develop 370 feet (approximately 12 percent of the known cave length) of Horseshoe Bay Cave for guided public walking tours.

Door County is proposing a management plan for Horseshoe Bay Cave which limits cave access to individuals based on age, physical ability and mental capacity. The existing plan places the selected few cave visitors in an unsafe environment. It also places the cave and cave dwelling inhabitants in danger. The current plan, in so many ways, clearly violates the basic principles on which our park system has been founded upon.
We, the undersigned, are concerned citizens who urge the leaders and citizens of Door County to modify the current proposed Horseshoe Bay Cave Management Plan. We believe excavation of glacial filled sediment to make cave visits accessible and safe inside the cave, plus an American Disabilities Act approved safe trail leading up to the cave, are "necessary improvements" for allowing the majority of the public to safely experience their publicly owned Horseshoe Bay Cave and County Park.
For more information visit www.wisconsincaves.org and click on the Horseshoe Bay Cave (HBC) informational link. The proposed management plan will go before the Door County Board for approval June 24th, 2014 at 9:00am. Please attend and show your support for a park system you believe in.
