RE: Request to increase frequency and visibility of 'Slower Traffic: Move Right" signs on California highways.
Driving on California highways is dangerous, reckless and uncontrolled at present. Anybody who has driven in Europe or other US states notices that drivers there typically observe protocols which provide a safer driving environment. They habitually move to the right out of courtesy to let faster vehicles pass in the fast lane. This is not the case in California.
Slower drivers in the fast lane cause dangerous backups, prompting cars moving at high speeds to stay too close to each other. Slow drivers in the fast lane also force faster drivers to veer to the right over two to three lanes to pass, usually in anger. Faster drivers might conceivably be expected to exercise patience, but California drivers rarely if ever move out of the way, leaving no option but to veer over several lanes.
Since it near impossible for officers to enforce existing law, placing more signs and making the signs more obvious will educate California drivers and motivate them to move over to a slower lane, creating a safer driving experience for all.
