I am currently pregnant with my first child and really want to encourage them to read growing up but also to have the time to read with them as a shared experience. This is such a wonderful scheme and I'm so disappointed it is currently not available in doncaster due to the council removing the funding. Surely this can only be a good thing to encourage young children to read more?

I am signing this petition, because it would be a travesty, if this brilliant scheme were stopped. There are countless children whose parents cannot afford to buy books for their them. There are some, who could afford books, but they don't see this as a priority. Whichever it is, at least with Dolly Parton's excellent incentive, all children have equitable access to their own reading material. It is, after all, a scientific fact that the sooner a child is introduced to education, the more chance they have of achieving their full potential. We need to help children be the very best they can be. After all, "Our Children Are Our Future" xxx

The council has already taken our library's, cut school funding and stopped free school meals and milk. Enough is enough

I always thought this was funded by the Dolly Foundation at no cost to the council. It such a lovely service and I'm sure all the children look forward to receiving their books
