I think it's very important for our children to be taught about diversity. Our school administrators should not fear forced resignation or termination in trying to bring these important life lessons and realities to our students.

I am a parent of 4 and a teacher of thousands. We cannot grow unless we have these uncomfortable discussions.

I'm from Wisconsin. My high school competed against Oconomowoc's high school. I've often wondered what on earth had happened to the people of Wisconsin that they would elect Paul Ryan and Scott Walker. This white privilege hissy fit reaction gives me a rather large clue.

“We need more light about each other. Light creates understanding, understanding creates love, love creates patience, and patience creates unity.” -Malcolm X

Oconomowoc is a community in great need of all of the above. That’s why I’m signing.

I'm signing because the real citizens of Oconomowoc need the empathy and history lesson a few parents are denying the community

Ignoring and stomping your feet....firing teachers and other educators won't change the fact that privilege exists! Education...opening minds is how we fix this!

The point of education isn't to make people think one way or support one ideology. It is to expose kids and young adults to different opinions and perspectives so that they can learn to think for themselves and formulate their own ideology. Even if people don't agree with the topic, this is a subject that needs to be discussed in schools.
