Save the Cures Act from Federal Budget Cuts

As a percent of GDP, there is 60% less government funding for research today than there was 40 years ago. According to consulting firm A.T. Kearney, 50% of decisions to terminate research are for financial reasons alone and have no medical rationale. Potential life-changing therapeutics and medical devices, like the one in this video, routinely fail to help patients purely for lack of funding. The problem is so severe it's known as the “valley of death” in research.
To take steps in reversing this trend, President Obama signed into law the 21st Century Cures Act (Cures Act) on December 13, 2016 to "help accelerate medical product development and bring new innovations and advances to patients who need them faster and more efficiently."
Trump is now proposing to cut the budget of the agency in charge of implementing the Cures Act by 37%, or $38 million. Please sign our petition and urge him and other leaders to protect the Cures Act.
