Reinstatement of Social Security Survivor Benefits for Children Back to 21 Years of Age

During Ronald Regan's presidency, the law for children receiving social security survivor benefits from a deceased parent, was changed from the age of 21 to 18. My goal is to get this age changed back to 21. With the ever increasing economic challenges our country and citizens face, especially for families with children and college costs, now more than ever, it is extremely necessary for the remaining parent/child of a family that lost a loved one's income prematurely, to have the ability to properly care and maintain modest cost of living expenses. During the Obama presidency, it was recognized that children require healthcare coverage up until the age of 26 under their parent's plan due to the fact that they can still be considered a dependent. The termination of survivor benefits for children turning 18 is a contradiction to the government's acceptance and understanding that they can be considered dependents up until the age of 26 with the health care laws in place. Please join and help fight to get this law changed for families struggling with this financial burden!
