Currently it is legal to release balloons in Florida and several other states across the country. This is not only selfish but immoral. The balloons only fly for a short time. Before long they begin to loose lift because of heat and almost always make it to the ocean. There they float on the surface or slowly sink, becoming almost an exactly replica of my favorite animals favorite food! And that would be sea turtles eating jelly fish! When the Mylar balloons spend a few days in the water they loose their metallic color and send up clear. Almost identically mimicking a jellyfish that is a major food source for sea turtles and several other marine mammals. The major issue is they eat the balloons and it blocks up their stomach so they feel full and slowly starve to death. Currently every species of marine turtle is endangered or threatened around the world! Please help us make this world as safer place for our beautiful marine wildlife.
