Help Puerto Rico obtain an exemption from the Jones Act so that they can receive more aid
0 have signed. Let’s get to 2,500!
Puerto Rico has been devastated by Hurricane Maria and they need generators and other forms of aid delivered to the island as fast as possible. They are 100% without power. Due to the Jones Act, only U.S. Flag Ships (ships built in the U.S. with American crews) are allowed to deliver aid to the Island. Puerto Rico needs an exemption from the Jones Act immediately to allow for the most efficient and effective delivery of disaster relief aid. An exemption to the Jones Act was granted by the Trump Administration on Sept. 8th and extended by Department of Homeland Security Acting Secretary Elaine Duke to last through Sept. 22nd. We demand an extension of Jones Act exemption for Puerto Rico immediately to help the 3+ million Americans living in Puerto Rico receive aid from all countries and ships that offer to provide it, not just U.S. Flagships.
