Equifax, one of the big three consumer reporting agencies in the US, had its website security breached due to negligience on their part. The aftermath of the hack is 143 million people who credit files are stolen. This puts the identies of those affected in the hands of the unkown, forever. The company is offering free credit freezes (wow.. thanks) on their website to help prevent identity theft, but Transunion and Experian are charging $10 each to freeze your credit that Equifax lost.
Why should we pay Equifax? You allowed our private info to be stolen that we never asked you to keep. YOU caused this uncertainty in our financial well-being, so YOU should pay the credit freeze fees. #CoverTheCost We are #NotYourConsumer
