Donald Trump should not relocate the US embassy to Jerusalem

On Wednesday, December 6th, President Donald Trump officially announced that he would be relocating the US Embassy to Jerusalem, which he believes is the capital of Israel. This undermines the legitimacy of the Palestinians, which leaves them stateless and unable to live peacefully on a land in which they have claims. This move will also cause a lot of unrest, and will ruin relations with many countries in the Middle East.
Israel occupied East Jerusalem at the end of the 1967 War with Syria, Egypt and Jordan; the western half of the holy city had been captured in the 1948 Arab-Israeli war.
Israel's occupation of East Jerusalem put the entire city under Israeli control. However, Israeli occupation and control is not internationally recognized by any country, including the United States. In the 1948 war, Zionist forces took control of the western half of the city and declared the territory part of its state. During the 1967 war, Israel captured the eastern half of Jerusalem, which was under Jordanian control and annexed it by extending Israeli law, bringing it directly under its control, which violates international law. In 1980, Israel passed the Jerusalem Law, stating that Jerusalem is the capital of Israel. In response, the UN Security Council passed Resolution 478 in 1980, declaring the law void. This annexation violates international law, which outlines that an occupying power does not have sovereignty in the territory it occupies.
Millions of Palestinians are dying and do not have access to food, water, or basic resources. They are not granted Israeli citizenship and need a work visa in order to be able to reside in Jordan. They are left stateless and continue to suffer. There are several restrictions on human rights.
