Austyn Tona started this petition to Donald P Wagner and

It has come to the attention of the do citizens of the City of Santa Ana, Orange County, the State of California, and John Wayne lovers everywhere that the County of Orange County, Ca are and in the process of removing John Wayne from the Name of the Airport in Santa Ana.

We would like to proclaim in our patriotic belief remembering the Duke's Legacy to keep the name given to the Airport and that the Statue bearing his name and features be not removed. John Wayne was not or will ever be a racist. He had a way of life and views which are simply put "Wayne's Way"

John Wayne has been a role model for boys and girls everywhere growing up. He is not only one of the most famous cowboys ever produced, he is an American Icon and a Legend. Removing his name will lead to a forever stain of bowing to mob mentality.

This is not a mob, but a group of concerned, civil loving, Patriotic Citizens asking our elected officials that we do not erase our historic gestures of goodwill and art to be erased forever by people who little no or care who John Wayne was.

The removal of John Wayne's name from the Airport is just the beginning of removing this American Icon from our Society. We plead with you not to remove him from our Airport.
