The 1918 flu pandemic with a death toll of anywhere from 50-100 million lives and, had also infected roughly 500 million people (more than the number of total deaths in WWII) one of the first steps that the government took in accordance to help slow the spread was to shut down any and all public gathering and to limit travel alongside shutting schools down for a period of time. It worked and countless lives were saved in comparison to how much worse it could have been. I understand that keeping profits moving is important for many reasons but in the short term keeping these businesses, offices, and schools open is only going lead to more lives lost and an even steeper unrecoverable decline in the market if this continues. We will loose millions of lives and in turn will cause irreparable damage to society, buisnes sectors and the country and global economies If we dont do this fast. The markets will recover in time once this is all over but if the 40-70 percent of the world gets infected as experts estimate, with a death toll of 3.4 percent as detailed by WHO. That would leave us with a low ball estimation of 106,009,262.850 dead world wide. There would be no possibility of market recovery after this and that's discounting the public works that would cease to function as a result of this. Imagine if a water treatment plant had all employees get sick, now theres no one to replace them, if awe run into a shortage of food manufacturers and employees we will then experience mass starvation on a scale unseen in human history, doctors will be in extremely short supply reverting our medical systems back by possibly 50-100 years not to mention the drug shortage will cost hundreds of thousands more lives. The most fearsome part is what would happen If this affected the energy sector, nuclear power plants left unsupervised could go critical and cause massive damage across the entire planet, but again that last part is a worst case scenario. We can start to contain and slow the spread via shutting down travel, schools, business, and even potentially enacting a slight quarantine in hotzones.  Please consider this, preventing irreparable damage to the country, the world, and the economy is avoidable If act intelligently and we act now. And President Trump, if you implement these measures and prevent calamity the markets will go back up and you will be known as the president who saved America. Please do what's right.
