Bobby Starnes started this petition to President Donald J. Trump and

I petition the President of the United States and the National Department of Transportation to allow truck drivers that possess a firearms license to be allowed to carry their weapon in the cab or on their persons at all times, during this National Emergency! People out of work and mixed with the already prevalent criminal elements in society, we ask that you allow us to protect ourselves and our belongings. Murders of truck drivers and the stealing of the goods they carry was already on the rise before this National Crisis. Now, it has gotten exponentially worse! Many of the large cities are under a "shelter in place" order, which leaves mostly the criminal element out on the streets as "WE," the truck drivers, that are trying to keep the store shelves stocked for the people of this country, are trying to make that happen! I can foresee, as this goes on further in the future, that it is only going to get much, much worse! For the safety of those that keep this country moving, to ensure that we make it to our destinations, to help us get home to our families safely, then we ask for you to honor a commitment to those of us putting our lives on the line for everyone in this country. I ask that you see that, under executive order, you declare any local and state law that violates our 2nd Amendment to keep and bear arms, to be null and void for drivers running interstate commerce. I'm not asking for your order to be upheld indefinitely, but at least through these troublesome times, so that myself and the millions of drivers on the road to be able to safely return to their family when time permits us to!

Thank you and God Bless this country!
