As many of those close to us know, we have been going through the unimaginable after the murder of Roseanna. One of the MANY things that our family has endured is the “battle” for placement of Roseanna’s 3 girls. Currently, their dad (who murdered their mom) still has all of his parental rights. This means that he has the ability to make major decisions about the kids’ health, education, and religious upbringing. He even has to authorize the therapy that the girls are receiving because of the trauma that he has caused them.
Under current case law, if a parent murders a child then there are grounds to terminate that parents parental rights to the surviving siblings. However, if one parent murders the other parents then there are not grounds to terminate the surviving parents parental rights.
What my family would like to see happen would be to add a provision to the current case law. We want the law to state that if one parent willfully murders the other parent then that serves as grounds for terminating the murderers parental rights. This provision would be named “Roseanna’s Law.”
We appreciate any and all support from the community on this. We are working with our lawyer to get this provision added.
