I Marissa Braughton  sister of Christopher Braughton am representing him in this petition to be released from prison. Join us in petitioning to bring my brother home where he belongs. He has been away from our family going on 5 years. Unfortunately Christopher was sentenced to 20 years and won’t be eligible for parole until year 2025. We are holding onto our faith and trusting our God for a miracle. Our family has spent over 300,000 on lawyers but the justice system continues to fail us. This has shaken our family but only made us more determined to bring Christopher Braughton home. We will not give up!

On May 24,2013, The Braughton Family's Life was turned upside down. Emmanuel Dominguez had been bar hopping with his girlfriend all day long driving a motorcycle (Toxicology Report Shows BAC). At the last bar he and his girlfriend got into an argument, and Emmanuel in a drunken rage, left her at the bar with no ride home. The Braughton Family was on their way home from a nice dinner at Saltgrass.On their way home they encounter Emmanuel Dominguez, in his drunken rage, he chases them home trying to ram the families car several times.He then goes around the car to get in front of it, then purposly slams on his brakes, nearly causing the families car to hit him on his motorcycle. The Braughton's, frightened, quickly went around him only to have him on their tail again.Racing through the families quiet neighborhood, trying to lose Emmanuel, they knew something terrible was wrong.The mother, scared and helpless, in the passenger seat of the car calls her son, Chris Jr, at the families home,WHICH WAS ONLY SECONDS AWAY. The Family tried to pull into their driveway but was blocked by Emmanuel Dominguez, a COMPLETE STRANGER the family did not know. Emmanuel then attacked the father outside of the families home.Chris Jr sees his father being attacked with his mother and 13 y/o brother standing nearby. Chris Jr then yelled to Dominguez several times saying, "STOP I HAVE A GUN, STOP I HAVE A GUN," with the gun pointed in the air. Dominguez then reached into his motorcycle saddle bag saying to Chris Jr, "OH YOU HAVE A GUN MOTHER F**KER, I HAVE A GUN FOR YOUR ASS !!! Chris Jr then made a split second decision to protect HIMSELF AND HIS FAMILY THAT NIGHT, firing one single shot.It is unfortunate Dominguez lost his life that night, BUT for HIS ACTIONS he caused his death. Chris Jr was home that Friday night, tired from a hard day at work, eating a bowl of cereal for dinner when he received that frantic call from his mother. Police arrived on the scene treating the Braughton Family like criminals, when they were the victims that night. The Braughton Family then contacted an attorney and was advised not to speak or give any statements after the treatment that night from Precinct 4 Constables. Chris Jr never denied he shot Dominguez, in fact he told the first arriving officer where the gun was. The Braughton's (Mom,Dad, 13 y/o brother, Chris Jr) were then placed into seperate patrol cars for hours. So long that the heat from underneath the car was coming up through the floor boards making it uncomfortably hot for the family.They asked, even begged several times for water but didn't get any. At that time family living on the street brought water for the family in the cars and had given it to the officers who the Braughton's had asked for some from.The officers then took the waters and passed them out amongst the officers on the scene, rather than the family. The families youngest son was inside the vehicle during the chase, seen the whole incident on the road with Dominguez. Panicked and scared he was ordered by his mother to go inside their home.He then runs into the house to wake up his sister yelling and crying to her what happened. His sister then tells him to stay inside while she goes outside to check on her family. The officers then tell everyone on the scene to move back, after they went inside the Braughton's Home without consent or search warrant at that point the youngest, which was 13 at the time, heard the officers inside his home, his safety place, searching through his home. When the officers see him they place him in a patrol car by himself,for hours. After several request from family members and his mother they finally place him in a car with his mom.The officers had there decision made when they found out Dominguez was a former marine. The Braughton Family supports the U.S. Military, but Dominguez should not have acted in a destructive manor that night. Chris Jr was simply protecting his family. Chris was studying Law Enforcement and was about to graduate with an Associates Degree. His plans where to become a TEXAS STATE TROOPER. Anyone who knows Chris Jr knows he was raised with the upmost respect. He was taught to hold the door open for people. Chris never wanted his mother to go to the store alone because of the increasing crime in the area. Chris Jr had NO CRIMINAL RECORD. This young man was home on a Friday night eating a bowl of cereal, ready to go to bed when Dominguez decided to DECLARE WAR ON THIS FAMILIES LIFE. The Braughton Family hired two attorneys M.T. Sandoval & Patrick Shelton to present the case. The Family had no doubt what the outcome of the case was going to be, INNOCENT !!! During the trial the attorneys failed to present all of the evidence and important witnesses. Chris Jr was GUILTY in the minds of the officers on the scene that night. Aren't you suppose to be innocent until proven guilty? How many lives have been devastated because of their beleif in the Judical System? Do you not have the right to protect your family ? Do you wait and risk you or your family being KILLED ? Or do you protect what matters the most to you, YOUR FAMILY !
