Too many children aren’t receiving an appropriate education. Especially those in special education. We as parents need to sign this petition in order to get education malpractice recognized within NYS. As it stands now, the public school system wrongfully places children into inappropriate programs. I personally have witnessed this. My daughter was placed into a program with the top reading comprehension level being 4 years behind her. She was given picture finds as work. I assure you it wasn’t an appropriate placement. Children are being set up to fail. Right now their lack of an appropriate education hinders their chance at being successful in life. All of our children deserve an appropriate education! If we get education malpractice recognized in NYS, public schools will be forced to provide appropriate education to ALL children. Without everyone’s support, the education system will continue to fail our children. Whether or not your child is affected by the failing special education system, please sign. It is time to stand up and let our government know this is a state wide problem that requires urgent attention. Think about how many children struggle each and every day. Think about how many parents cry themselves to sleep with the frustrations and worries about their children’s education. Think about the children that can’t get into the college of their choice because the education system failed them. My child has gaps in her learning. These gaps were from being absent due to health related problems. She would catch illnesses from school and be home sick for a longer duration than an average person. This went on for several years and has improved as she got older. Instead of our district providing appropriate services for her to prevent her from falling behind, they did nothing. They aren’t filling the gaps. With only a few years left of school, every day a constant struggle, my daughter feels that the schools don’t care so why should she. That breaks my heart! We need to show these children that we care! To think how many children and families that are going through this is heartbreaking to me. Ask your child how they truly feel about their education. Ask yourself as well. This will continue to be a huge problem if we don’t stand together and do something. I know I would sleep better at night knowing the children are protected.
